If one wants to really enjoy the unspoilt beaches of India, he must take a flight to Port Blair from Kolkata or Chennai. Andaman & Nicobar islands are one of the best locations for once in a lifetime visit. While a number of islands can be explored, as it is one of the largest archipelago, being a bio sphere reserve restrictions are also in place. Permits are required and many areas have been kept out of reach so as to protect the aboriginals' habitat.
We had a chance to visit the Havelock island on the eastern side. To our amazement we found that the beaches were crystal clear azure waters & white sands. The striking fact which made this part different from the rest of world was a number of live conch shells could be seen on the beaches as well as colonies of baby turtles just out of eggs laid in the sand.
Approximately 3 hours flight from Chennai to Port Blair. Enjoy Port Blairs' beauty and sea side roads, Marine museum and cellular jail. Take a yatch ride to Havelock islands for a day trip.
